Art Therapy for All Ages: Nurturing Growth in Children & Adults
While the language on this site speaks primarily to adult clients, please know my thoughtful approach and genuine passion for supporting children through art therapy are equally important. If you believe your child would benefit from art therapy, please reach out. I'm happy to offer a free consultation to see if it's a good fit. Additionally, if you and your child feel it’s appropriate for them to be a part of the phone or video call, I welcome their attendance!
Let’s talk.
Traditional talk therapy allows you to have someone in your life who is truly non-judgmental and on your side. By sharing your authentic feelings and reactions to life’s events, it helps to clarify and offer a space where you no longer have to navigate these circumstances alone. As your therapist, I provide support and ask questions that help you sort out what it is you want and need. I provide skills coaching so that you can then live your life to it’s fullest.
Let’s create.
Using art therapy techniques, you are able to more organically identify and express yourself in a therapeutic and creative way. While exploring the art-making process, you will benefit from both verbal communication, as well as the reflective non-verbal explorations of just being with the materials and creating something. I will never tell you what your artwork means. Instead, we use it as a guide to offer metaphors, which then lead to a better understanding of your experiences.
What to expect.
Individual therapy begins by getting to know each other. You will fill out paperwork that helps me gain understanding of who you are and what compelled you to begin therapy prior to our first session. Often times, clients are ready to see change and fully throw themselves into the work on day one. The preliminary paperwork helps catch me up on what exactly you want the focus of treatment to be. Together, we create treatment goals that we will revisit periodically in order to reflect on your overall progress.
